Thanks to two professors in the Wright School of Business students at not only Dalton State, but other institutions as well, will be more prepared to enter the workforce after graduation.

Bob Haverland and Dr. Lorraine Gardiner presented on integrating SAP, an accounting software, into introductory financial accounting courses at the SAP Next-Gen Conference and were awarded for best presentation. The presentation, “Using SAP Integration to Enhance Student Learning of Financial Accounting Concepts,” is available publicly and provides a road map for instructors at other institutions.

Haverland and Gardiner explained their four-phase approach that increases students’ critical thinking skills while improving their understanding of the accounting cycle. This provides students with more authentic and real-life projects they may encounter in the workplace. Assignments are performed after chapter coverage and alternate between in-class analysis of business transactions and related interactions with the SAP system outside class.
